The owners of this waterfront lot in Maine had an unusual idea: Take the tiny but beautifully finished existing cabin on the site and move it to a location that took the best advantage of the view of the bay, Then build a new cottage around it. A existing screen gazebo was also to be moved and attached to the new house. The owners favored compact spaces, and natural finishes, They also wanted to incorporate driftwood from the shore into the finished home. Sometimes the design just flows, this was one of those cases. The finished cottage is an example of just what can be achieved by a high-quality collaboration of owner, architect and contractor. Teamwork makes all the difference.
